“How did I get here?”

Forty cyanotype prints of family photographs in chronological order. The images repeat as you move down the rows and begin to fade away horizontally. One side depicts my mothers side of the family the opposite sides depicts my fathers.

Both of my grandmothers were Japanese and after meeting my grandfathers they both moved here to America and started their families. As an Asian American woman my story isn’t a unique one. It is however one that few Asian Americans feel comfortable telling, we’ve been taught to be silent. I want to give them the voice they deserve and tell our beautiful story.
